CYMIO in concert Sunday at Little Bridges

Although owned and operated by Pomona College, Bridges Hall of Music has become home to several community orchestra groups, including the Claremont Youth Symphony Orchestra. Funds to build Little Bridges were donated in 1916 by Mr. and Mrs. Appleton Bridges in honor of their daughter Mabel, who attended Pomona College before her death.

The Claremont Young Musicians Intermezzo Orchestra, conducted by Greg Samuel, will hold a free and open to the public concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, January 22 in Pomona College’s Bridges Hall of Music, 150 E. Fourth St., Claremont.

The evening’s program will include the overture to “Orpheus in the Underworld” by Offenbach, Mazurka of “Coppelia” by Delibes, “Carmen Suite No. 1” by Bizet, “Funeral March of a Marionette” by Gounod, “Syncopated Clock” by Leroy Anderson, and “Americana Rhapsody” by Lennie Niehaus.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. For information email rjscymo@aol.com, visit cymo.org, or call (909) 455-6664.

The 70-member Intermezzo Orchestra consists of musicians ages 9 to 17. It was formed in 1992 as a preparatory group for the Claremont Young Musicians Orchestra.
