Friday, April 19

 

  • California Botanic Garden, 1500 N. College Ave., Claremont, hosts 10 to 11 a.m. wildflower walking tours today, April 20, April 26 and April 27. Tram tours from 2 to 3 p.m. are also available each day. Tours are $15, $8 for garden members. Register at calbg.org.

 

  • Play games of mahjong at Joslyn Center, 660 N. Mountain Ave., Claremont, from 1 to 5 p.m.

 

  • The public is invited to a free 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. ceremony celebrating winners of The Claremont Colleges Library 11th Annual Library Undergraduate Research Awards at The Claremont Colleges Library’s Founders Room, 800 N. Dartmouth Ave. Details are at library.claremont.edu/news.

 

  • The free and open to the public 5 to 8 p.m. Claremont culture festival takes place at Claremont High School, 1601 N. Indian Hill Blvd.

 

 

Saturday, April 20

  • The City of Upland celebrates Earth Day with a free and public 9 a.m. to noon event featuring educational booths, crafts, games, and giveaways at Greenbelt Park, at the corner of 15th Street and Benson Avenue.

 

  • Improving Dreams, Equality, Access, and Success (IDEAS) at the Claremont Colleges, a student activist group, hosts the 2024 5K Dream Run at 10 a.m. at Pitzer College, 1050 N. Mills Ave., Claremont. Check in starts at 8:30 at Brant Clock Tower. Community/student runners must make a Zelle donation of at least $15/$10 to claremontideas@gmail.com, and note the donation when signing up at tinyurl.com/5kregistration24 to participate. Bonita Ave. Volunteers will accept unneeded or expired medications in solid or liquid form as well as inhalers, syringes, insulin pens, lancets and other sharps.
