Claremont High School 

Boys golf (9-4)
Claremont sophomore Will Middleton and junior Connor Gale represented the Palomares League at the CIF-Southern Section Individual Southern Regional tournament at Los Serranos Golf Course Tuesday. Will tied for 52nd with a 78; Connor shot an 83, tying him for 84th.

The top 20 golfers moved on to the California Interscholastic Federation/Southern California Golf Association’s SoCal Boys Regional Championship.

The Pack will participate in the Division III CIF-Southern Section team tournament Monday, May 15 at Sterling Hills Golf Course.

 

Boys tennis (13-2)
The team fought hard but lost, 12-6, May 5 in the first round of CIF-Southern Section Open Division tournament play at Corona del Mar. Updated brackets are at cifss.org.

Junior singles players Caleb Settles and D.J. Brownlee will represent the Palomares League and CHS at the CIF-SS Individual Championship prelims on Thursday, May 18. Senior captain Lance Lao and sophomore Mateen Ghafarshad will play in the doubles category.

 

Boys (6-2) and girls (4-4) swim and dive
Results from the CIF-Southern Section finals: senior boys swimmer Roman Savage took second in the Division II 100-yard butterfly at 49.48 — besting his previous personal best by a hundredth of a second — and third in the 500 freestyle, 4:34.38. In Division III competition, freshman girls swimmer Mia Gamble took second in the 50-yard freestyle at 24.78, and third in the 100 butterfly, 58.22. Freshman Olivia Savage finished seventh in the 100 breaststroke at 1:10.39. The girl’s 200 medley relay team of Olivia, Mia, junior AliMarie DePrez and senior Shelby Archer placed third with a time of 1:55.61. Full results are at faculty.polytechnic.org/cifss.

Claremont High athletes will compete in CIF-State prelims Friday at the Clovis West Aquatic Complex.

 

Boys and girls track and field
Results from the May 6 CIF-Southern Section Division I prelims: junior L’Mio Edwards won the girls 800-meter dash at 2:10.62. Junior Denise Jie Yi Chen took fourth in the 1,600, 4:58.46, and fifth in the 3,200, 10:44.44. Detailed event results are at athletic.net.

Up next are the CIF-SS Division I finals 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Moorpark.

 

 

The Webb Schools

Boys golf (10-3)
Freshman Jayden Kuo represented the San Joaquin League at the CIF-Southern Section Individual Northern Regional tournament Wednesday at Los Robles Greens. Results will appear in next week’s Courier.

Webb will participate in the Division III CIF-Southern Section team tournament Monday, May 15 at Sterling Hills Golf Course.

 

Boys tennis (12-1)
As the San Joaquin League singles champion, Webb freshman Morgan Qiu will represent the Gauls and the league at the CIF-SS Individual Championship prelims on Thursday, May 18, as will league doubles champs Ryan Weigand and Larry Zhou, and league doubles runners-up Ben Thien-Ngern and David Liu.

 

Coed badminton (6-9)
The team dispatched Citrus Valley, 14-7, May 4 to begin CIF-Southern Section Division I tournament play. At San Gabriel Monday, the Gauls lost, 18-3 to cap the season. Brackets are at cifss.org.

 

Boys (0-2) and girls (2-1) swim and dive
Results from CIF-Southern Section Division III finals: freshman girls swimmer Maya Chin took fourth in the 500-yard freestyle, 5:14.84, and eighth in the 200 freestyle, 1:58.76. Full results are at faculty.polytechnic.org/cifss.

 

Boys and girls track and field
Results from the May 6 Division IV CIF-Southern Section prelims at Carpinteria: freshman Nicole Samson won the girls 800-meter race, 2:19.43. Full results are at athletic.net.

The CIF-SS Division IV finals take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Moorpark.
