Laemmle Theatres President and CEO Greg Laemmle will make an announcement regarding the future of Claremont’s Laemmle 5 Theatre on Saturday, January 14 following a 1 p.m. screening of “Only in Theaters,” the new documentary about the long history and recent travails of the Los Angeles-based Laemmle arthouse chain.

The 18,743 square-foot Claremont Laemmle 5 property, built in 2007, had for more than a year been listed on loop.net for $4.7 million. The listing is no longer active on the site.

The Courier reported in December 2021 that the Claremont Laemmle 5 property was in escrow, and if the sale went through the building would be transformed into a two-story structure housing an organic market with outdoor dining on the first floor, two restaurants on the second, and a rooftop bar. The proposed buyer was Win Fund Investment LLC, a company based in Rancho Cucamonga.

Saturday’s Q and A will be moderated by columnist and author David Allen.

Tickets will be available at laemmle.com/theater/claremont-5 or at the door. The theater is at 450 W. Second St.
