Our Lady of the Assumption Church celebrates 75th year

Next Sunday, March 13, the community is invited to commemorate the 75th jubilee year for Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 435 Berkeley Ave. While next Sunday will feature a Mass honoring the 75th anniversary of the parish being established, the main celebration is scheduled for August.

In August, Archbishop Jose Gomez will visit and preside over a Mass followed by a parish-wide jubilee event. The annual OLA Fiesta will also celebrate its 75th year this fall.

To help celebrate, parish staff member Jean McKenna invites the public to search for any photographs related to OLA, “especially from the decades between 1950 and 2000,” according to a February 20 bulletin. McKenna is seeking to build up the parish’s historical archives.

You may take the photographs to the parish office where they will be scanned and returned immediately. In addition to OLA asking for community photographs, McKenna is also interviewing longtime parishioners before the big event.

For more information about the 75th year jubilee or how you can contribute to the commemorative efforts, contact McKenna at (909) 626-3596 or bulletin@olaclaremont.org.
