Print Pomona Art Book Fair comes to Claremont

The first-ever Print Pomona Art Book Fair is coming to Pomona College from April 2 to April 3. Stop by as the Benton Museum of Art and partner, The Arts Area, host over 50 independent publishers across the two-day event.

The Print Pomona Art Book Fair (PPABF) will take place at Pomona College’s Edmunds Ballroom in the Smith Campus Center, 170 E. Sixth Street.

As mentioned, the PPABF will bring more than 50 national and international publishers to the Pomona College campus for the first time, where they will be exhibiting artists’ books, art catalogues, photography monographs, drawings, zines and other print material. The fair is free, open to the public and will run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on April 2, and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

“PPABF steps into the breach left by the Los Angeles Art Book Fair, offering L.A. area residents the opportunity to engage with avant-garde publishing, book art, and creative expression in print,” a news release read.

PPABF officially kicks off at the Benton Museum of Art at Pomona College next Thursday with a presentation by Cal Poly Pomona lecturer of photography Lorena Turner. Turner will discuss the changes in visual culture created by COVID-19.

Then on April 1, the Benton will host an artist talk and book signing by internationally recognized photographer and director Estevan Oriol — and one of Netflix’s L.A. Originals.

These two events, held inside the Benton at 120 West Bonita Ave., are also free and open to the public. Then on April 2 and 3, the book fair will begin.
