Residential reminders: school bash, portable hoops, street sweeping

Back-to-school bash

On Friday, September 16, Claremont High School’s Youth Activity Center, 1717 N. Indian Hill Blvd., hosts its free back to school bash for YAC and El Roble Intermediate Tracks Activity Center participants from 3 to 6 p.m.

El Roble will provide a bus for TAC students to join the fun which will include a game truck, an obstacle course and minute-to-win-it contests for prizes. Hot dogs, snacks and desserts will be provided for YAC and TAC attendees.

To learn more or register for YAC, call (909) 399-5360. Parents and students of El Roble Intermediate can call the TAC at (909) 399-5373 to learn how to sign up.

Portable basketball hoops

Claremont’s Community Improvement division reminds residents that portable basketball hoops must be removed from public sidewalks and streets when not in use. If possible, hoops should be relocated onto private property as to not cause an obstruction for pedestrians or hinder vehicle traffic, parking, or city services such as street sweeping and trash pick-ups.

Residents with questions or would like to report a concern can call (909) 399-5499.

Street sweeping

The city reminds residents not to park their vehicles on streets designated for street sweeping.

When cars and other obstacles are in the street, equipment cannot sweep the curb to remove debris, thus diminishing the objective of keeping streets clean and improving the environment, the city wrote online.

Although trash collection and street sweeping are never scheduled on the same day, the sanitation division also asks residents to bring their trash containers back onto their property after service.

In some instances, street sweeping may occur the day after trash collection. To learn when your street sweeping day is scheduled, check the city website at ci.claremont.ca.us/government/departments-divisions/community-services/street-sweeping.

If you have questions regarding street sweeping, please contact the community services department at (909) 399-5431.
