The Service Center for Independent Life is asking for donations of nonperishable and canned food items in anticipation of its upcoming Thanksgiving food pantry needs, as the two food banks that support the center are currently running low on supplies.

Donations can be delivered between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday to SCIL’s office, 107 S. Spring St., Claremont. If patrons wish to donate something other than nonperishable and canned food items, call (909) 621-6722 to discuss it further.

In addition to food, SCIL needs volunteers to help deliver food on Fridays. The total number of households served has recently grown from 75 to 105, prompting the need for more volunteers to fulfill deliveries.
