Guevara continues to be held at Men’s Central Jail in Los Angeles with bail set at $7.1 million.
The case relates to a January 23 shooting in the 600 block of Colgate Place. Following multiple reports of gunfire, Claremont police responded to the cul-de-sac at 7:23 p.m. and found two men with critical gunshot wounds, an injured Guevara, and a handgun.
Neighbors who spoke with the Courier said they witnessed a man checking for unlocked cars in the area before the gunfire, and that the man found one in the driveway of a residence where the shooting occurred. Neighbors said two men emerged from the home and were shot when they confronted the man. Neighbors reported hearing five to six shots from what they believed was a small caliber handgun. A third person emerged from the home and subdued the gunman until police arrived, they said.
Following the incident, Guevara and the two gunshot victims were taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center. Guevara was released at 1:21 a.m. January 24 and arrested.
The Courier was unable to determine the condition of the two victims due to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act concerns.
