Two young adults die after single car accident

A single vehicle collision just before 1 a.m. last night, January 18, 2014, resulted in the deaths of two of the four passengers in the car. The two deceased victims, both passengers, were identified as Joanna Munoz, 19 years old, and Monique Magana, 20 years old, both from Upland. A third occupant, an 18-year-old female, from Upland, was transported to USC Medical Center with moderate injuries.

Investigation determined that the driver, Artisha Wright, 21 years old, from Upland, was driving under the influence of alcohol. Ms. Wright is currently being treated at USC Medical Center for moderate injuries that she sustained in the accident.

Southern California Edison crews have worked throughout the day to repair a wooden electrical pole that was damaged in the accident. Claremont police had closed off Foothill Boulevard from the time of the accident up to about mid-day Saturday.
