Burglary suspect arrested for robbing church

Darren Yeomans, a 50-year-old transient, was arrested and booked at the Claremont Police Department jail for commercial burglary, resisting arrest and injury on a police officer on Wednesday, February 12. Mr. Yeomans is being held on $30,000 bail pending arraignment at the Pomona Superior Court this Friday.

At about 5 p.m. Wednesday, Claremont police officers saw Mr. Yeomans near Towne Avenue and Richmond Drive pushing a shopping cart filled with electronics, including a 32-inch HDTV, a computer office printer and a DVD player. When officers approached him, he ran. A short foot pursuit ensued, but officers were able to apprehend Mr. Yeoman. After further investigation, it was discovered that he had broken into a church located in the 1300 block of North Towne Avenue.
