Flash flood warnings issued, local responders provide aid

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning in southern California as storm conditions continue through the weekend. Mandatory evacuations were enacted in Glendora and Azusa. Because of the recent Colby Fire in the foothills, flash floods and mudslides are highly probably in the burn areas. In preparation for the downpour, Claremont fire stations and other local fire crews will have sandbags available for residents. Locals must bring their own shovel to fill and transport the bags. Claremont Fire Station #101 is located at 606 Bonita Ave., #102 at 2040 N. Sumner Ave. and #62 at 3701 N. Mills Ave. For more information, contact Claremont Community Services at (909) 399-5431.
