A Claremont police officer struck a male student with his vehicle near Condit Elementary School at about 8:20 a.m. this morning while the officer was attempting to stop a speeding motorist at the intersection of Scripps Drive and Mountain Avenue.

The child was treated at the scene by LA County Fire Paramedics and released to his parents. The La Verne Police Department responded to the accident and is handling the investigation of the collision. The cause of the collision has not yet been determined and is currently under investigation.
