Power outages, trees down after winds blow through Claremont

**UPDATE: 11:40 a.m. Edison crews have been dispatched to restore power to roughly 300 homes near Wellesley and Oxford Avenues. The 1168 homes near Lewis Park and 380 homes near Pilgrim Place without power are still under assessment, according to Edison. No time estimate was given as to when all homes will have power restored.

 

More than 1800 residents are still without power after significant winds blew through town last night. Edison crews are currently assessing damage and working to restore power which has been out since roughly 3 a.m.

Hardest hit are neighborhoods in the Pilgrim Place area and north of Foothill, west of Indian Hill Boulevard to Towne Avenue.

Many residential and city trees are down including several along Foothill Boulevard. Crews are working to remove those blocking passageways.

Public schools are in session, however, Our Lady of the Assumption school is closed due to the outage.
