RSABG offers workshop on caring for native plants

With the ongoing drought and a growing emphasis on sustainability, more and more people are opting to switch out water-heavy landscaping with native plants. But once you get them in the ground, how do you care for them?

You can find out on Saturday, October 25 from 9 a.m. to noon when Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Gardens production manager Antonio Sanchez gives a workshop on how to care for native plants. Learn about proper pruning techniques, whether or not to fertilize, suitable irrigation and grooming, the ins and outs of mulching as well as many other important parts of landscape maintenance. The class will also include maintenance planning, seasonal appropriateness and how to get the most from your valuable time and efforts.

The Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden is located at 1500 N. College Ave. in Claremont. Admission to the class is $50, $40 for RSABG members. The class has a limit of 20 participants, so please register online at www.rsabg.org.
