Pilgrim Place kicks off 100th birthday

While most try to start the New Year off by discarding their past year, Pilgrim Place senior community takes it as an opportunity to look back and celebrate its last 100 years.

Their celebration began January 8 with a Centennial Vesper Service commemorating the signing of their Articles of Incorporation and marked the official start of their Centennial year. The next centennial event will be January 24 at Claremont United Church of Christ Sanctuary where the Albert McNeil Jubilee Singers will perform spirituals.

What started off as a single building known as the Claremont Missionary Home, has grown to a 32-acre community, equipped with over a dozen central facilities including a state-of-the-art pool and a museum. The facility serves as a retirement community for people who have dedicated their lives to religious or charitable non-profit organizations. It serves as a place for them to continue on their path of service through activities and social groups.
