Mail theft suspect arrested, booked in Claremont jail

Raquel Carrillo, 43, from Pomona, was arrested by the Claremont Police Department for possession of stolen property, identity theft and vandalism.

On Monday, June 8 at about 2:45 p.m., a resident in the 1000 block of Fuller Drive in Claremont heard a loud noise and looked outside. She saw her mailbox leaning over with a female standing near it.

Claremont Police Department officers responded and located the suspect vehicle, an older black sedan, conducted a traffic stop. Police found multiple articles of mail inside the vehicle that did not belong to the female. In total, detectives and officers located 13 confirmed victims of mail theft; 9 victims from Claremont and four victims from surrounding cities.

Ms. Carrillo was arrested and her bail was set at $50,000. She is scheduled to be arraigned in Superior Court of Pomona on Wednesday, June 10.
