Free medical, dental and vision health clinic offered in Pomona

Free medical, dental and vision care will be offered at a massive health clinic this weekend at the Fairplex in Pomona. The event will have up to 70 dental stations, 20 medical exam rooms, 10 vision lanes and a lab that will produce free prescription eyeglasses on site while patients wait. Dentistry will include cleanings, fillings and extractions and medical doctors will provide services ranging from consultation and diagnosis to minor medical procedures. Nurses will also be on hand to staff triage areas and provide medical assistance.

The Pomona Free Healthcare Clinic will be held Friday, July 10 through Sunday, July12 at Pomona Fairplex, Expo Hall 4 with patient parking and entrance at Gate 9 on White Avenue. The clinic, conducted by California CareForce along with Focusing Philanthropy and Oral & Facial Surgeons of California (OFSOC), is expected to provide care for an estimated 500 people per day if the event is fully staffed.

Patients will be seen on a first-come, first-serve basis with no income test or eligibility requirement of any kind to receive treatment. Each day, California CareForce will be giving out patient numbers starting at 3:30 am on the morning of that day’s clinic. Only one number will be issued to each person in line. You may wait in line for someone else whose circumstances do not allow them to wait, but you will not receive a number for yourself as well.

Once numbers run out, no other numbers will be issued for that day’s clinic.

California CareForce is also seeking volunteers and asking dental, vision and medical professionals in the community to rally together to serve the underserved by donating their time on one or more days of the three day event. Dentist and nurses are in the greatest demand; however, organizers are seeking professionals in the following areas: Oral surgeons, hygienists, dental assistants, dental x-ray techs, ophthalmologists, optometrist, opticians, ophthalmic techs, doctors, LVN/LPN, EMT, acupuncturists and chiropractors.

For those interested in volunteering at California CareForce Clinic in Pomona, register by Thursday, July 9 at www.californiacareforce.org/Clinics/UpcomingClinics/Pomona.aspx
