Rio de Ojas offers delightful demos on Latin-flavored artistry

Rio de Ojas is offering a number of exciting demos this summer. The public is invited to attend the Saturday workshops free of charge.

On Saturday, July 25 at 4 p.m. and on Saturday, August 8 at 2 and 4 p.m., Rio de Ojas owners Ray and Terri Riojas will demonstrate the art of making sugar skulls. Guests will learn the ins and outs of this fun family activity, including how to mix the sugar to the right consistency, make molds and mix the icing for decoration.

On Saturday, August 15 at 2 and 4 p.m. there will be a demo on sugar skull cookie decorating. Participants will be shown techniques using fondant and use cool molds to make unique and delicious desserts. On Saturday, August 22 at 2 and 4 p.m., guest will be treated to a candy-making demonstration using skull molds embellished with colorful touches like flowered hats, sombreros and moustaches.

And on Saturday, September 5 at 2 and 4 p.m., you will learn more about making the Spanish dish paella. While the Riojases are unable to cook onsite, they will teach you about the basic ingredients and how they are assembled.
