Action group ready to spread word on tree care during drought

Many of Claremont’s street trees are experiencing extreme stress due to the drought and lack of proper watering. The city has identified trees most in need of assistance and is working with Sustainable Claremont, the Tree Action Group (TAG) and Claremont Heritage to assemble a group of citizens who are interested in spreading the word. Volunteers will be trained on how to inform local residents on the best practices in caring for Claremont’s parched urban forest.

A training session will be held Tuesday, September 1 in the Grove Room at the Alexander Hughes Community Center beginning at 6:30 p.m. To RSVP your attendance, email coordinator@sustainableclaremont.org.

The Alexander Hughes Community Center is located at 1700 Danbury Road. Residents unable to donate time, but interested in helping may consider making a donation to the Claremont Heritage Tree Fund.
