Minor collision in rain soaked Claremont

A ServPro truck collided with an SUV on Claremont Blvd Tuesday morning, another casualty of an exceptionally stormy day in the City of Trees.

A dark green Chevy Avalanche was traveling southbound on Claremont Boulevard when the ServPro truck failed to yield while entering from Earlham Drive, according to Officer Savannah Thompson of the Claremont Police Department. The two vehicles slammed into each other, causing the Avalanche to spin out.

The driver of the Avalanche, who declined to give her name, was driving on a suspended license, according to Officer Thompson.

Winie Chang, who was a passenger in the Avalanche, told the COURIER she was looking down at her phone when the ServPro truck suddenly jutted out into the Avalanche’s path, causing the collision. There were no injuries.

The accident is yet another incident on the roads due to inclement weather. According to the National Weather Service, Claremont has experienced 1.06 inches of rain so far today, with more expected throughout the day and into Tuesday night.
