Suspects arrested for Evey Canyon car burglary

A suspect broke into a car parked in the Evey Canyon turnout on Mt. Baldy Road in Claremont between 4 and 5 p.m. pm Monday, January 18. Both suspects— Steven Shelton, 34, of Helendale and Tiffany Wood, 22, of Rancho Cucamonga—were later arrested for burglary and possession of stolen property.

After the suspects stole the victim’s property and left the location, officers obtained information from the victim, which led officers to the 8000 block of Mignonette Street in Rancho Cucamonga. After locating the vehicle—a 2002 white Chevrolet Suburban—leaving Mignonette Street, officers made a traffic stop and found some of the victim’s property inside of the vehicle.

Mr. Shelton has an extensive criminal history and is on parole. He is being held without bail at the Claremont city jail. During the booking process, contraband was located on Ms. Wood, and possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia were added to her charges. Ms. Wood is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail at the Claremont city jail.

Anyone with information regarding this crime should call the Claremont Police Department at (909) 399-5411.
