Baldy View ROP holds student success awards ceremony

The event served to acknowledge students for outstanding achievement in the demonstration of 21st century career pathway skills from various Career Technical Education (CTE) classes.

The ceremony featured a keynote address by 52nd District Assembly Member and Baldy View ROP alum Freddie Rodriguez. He touted the impact ROP courses had on him as a high school student where he worked at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center through the program.

Mr. Rodriguez shared that his ROP experience laid the foundation for him not only in his 30-year career as an Emergency Medical Technician but also as a legislator,

“As I was going to high school, I wanted to help people, but I didn’t know which way to go. ROP really got my attention,” he said. “ROP can change your life forever. Look what it did for me, and learn what it can do for you. There are many resources that can help you, and ROP is one of the best out there.”

A total of 127 students representing the Claremont Unified School District, the Chaffey Joint Union High School District and the Chino Valley and Upland districts, as well as Excelsior Charter School, were honored.

Local winners included Claremont High School students Andrea Brown and Brock Butcher for their work in the Auto 1 class and Xayvion Buckley-Hinojosa, Tyler McNeil and Angel Renteria for Intro to Stage Technology.

Jimenez-Palacios and SAHS students Hailey Bell and Andrew McDaniels for website design; CHS students Carson Kolb, Andrew Ly, Faith Nishimura, Lyndsay Raczok, Julia Romero, Andrew Wiesman and Jason Weisman for virtual enterprise; CHS students Kimberly Quinteros for criminal justice and Nathan Reichwald for game design and development; and SAHS students Kimberly Parillo for video production, Cody Smith for crop production and Zenia Zavala for agriculture sales and marketing.
