David Dreier decides not to seek reelection

David Dreier was one of California’s most influential Republicans in Congress and the sixth to retire after his term expires. A big reason for the decision was due to the new political district map rewritten by a citizen committee. The news is not surprising given he faced an uphill battle in a district that lost much of his conservative base. Dreier made the announcement on the House floor Wednesday and also cited the low approval ratings for Congress.
