Arrest made after Motel 6 employee stabbed

A Pomona man is in custody after allegedly stabbing a Motel 6 employee during an altercation Monday afternoon.

Jason Rogers, 38, apparently got into a fight with the employee just before 4 p.m. when he was asked if he had a room at the motel on the 800 block of South Indian Hill Boulevard. During the fight, Mr. Rogers reportedly brandished a knife and stabbed the employee in the abdomen, according to Lt. Mike Ciszek of the Claremont Police Department.

Police responded to multiple 911 calls regarding the incident, and found Mr. Rogers and the victim in the motel lobby, Lt. Ciszek said. The victim was airlifted to County USC Medical Center, where his condition and the extent of his injuries are unknown.

Lt. Ciszek said Mr. Rogers is known to motel employees and has been “a problem in the past.”

Mr. Rogers complained of pain to his wrist, and he was briefly checked out at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center before being placed under arrest.

He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and transported to the Claremont Police Department jail, where he is currently being held on $30,000 bail.
