An electrical fire in the basement of Pomona College’s Seaver Laboratory Tuesday afternoon forced the evacuation of the building a temporary closure of both College Avenue and Sixth Street. As of 4:30 p.m. the fire was reported to be out and firefighters were busy ventilating the building to remove the smoke. Fire crews from Los Angeles County Fire stations in Claremont and Pomona responded as well as both Claremont police and campus safety. COURIER photo/Steven Felschundneff
