Retired CHS teacher Bill Vaskis has died

Locals are mourning the unexpected death of Waldermar “Bill” Vaskis, former Claremont High School world history teacher. Mr. Vaskis died Wednesday, December 21 at Mt. San Antonio Gardens.

Mr. Vaskis was well-known in Claremont for his sometimes unorthodox teaching style, his love of the outdoors and music, and his political activism. Mr. Vaskis retired from teaching in 2000 after 32 years with the Claremont Unified School District.

Service arrangements are currently being made. A more complete account of his life will appear in a future edition of the COURIER.
