Judge sends murder case to juvenile court

The murder case against a Claremont boy has been transferred to juvenile court, according to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office.

The case was transferred during a pre-preliminary hearing on January 11. The boy was initially charged as an adult, and is currently being held at Los Padrinos Juvenile Detention Facility in Downey.

The DA’s office has filed a motion to transfer him back to adult court, according to LA County DA spokesperson Sarah Ardalani. He is scheduled to return to juvenile court on February 22 for a transfer hearing setting.

The boy is accused in the stabbing death of his 15-year-old sister at a north Claremont home. The boy was 14 at the time of the incident in November 2015.

Multiple calls to the family’s attorney were not immediately returned.
