Super King security guard shoots suspected thief

Claremont police are investigating after a security guard shot a man in the Super King parking lot Tuesday night.

The shooting occurred at approximately 8:45 p.m., when police received numerous calls of a shooting that just occurred at the market on the 400 block of Auto Center Drive, according to Sgt. David Hardin. When officers arrived, they found a man down suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

According to police, an employee told a security guard that a man was trying to breaking into their car. A group of security guards confronted the thief and a scuffle ensued, before one of the guards fired several shots, wounding the man.

The would-be thief was treated at the scene and transported to a hospital, where he is expected to survive, Sgt. Hardin said. Nobody else at the scene was injured.

Anyone with addition all information should called the Claremont Police Department at (909) 399-5411.
