Neighborhood evacuated after gardener finds fake grenade
On Friday, March 31 a Claremont neighborhood was evacuated after a gardener found what he thought was a possible hand grenade. The discovery was made just before noon on the 100 block of Brown Drive. The grenade appeared to be covered in dirt and corrosion build-up, Lt. Ciszek said. After evacuating neighboring residences, the LA County Bomb Squad was called in. After examining the device, they determined it was an “inert false” grenade. Residents were allowed back into their homes by 1:30 p.m.
