Police looking for leads in attempted Village burglary

An alarm prevented a Village business from being burglarized early Friday morning, and police are asking business owners for help.

Just before 4 a.m., an unknown burglar tried to pry open the rear door of The Chama on the 300 block of west Bonita Avenue, according to a release from the Claremont Police Department.

The alarm sounded, which caused the burglar to flee. Nothing was taken from the business, police said, and officers arrived on the scene within four minutes.

There is no suspect information at this time. Police are asking nearby business owners to review their surveillance footage between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. and to contact them if they have any information about a possible suspect or a suspect vehicle.
