Xerxes burglar found already incarcerated in San Diego

A Hesperia man, who is already in jail for previous crimes, has been connected to two Village burglaries.

John Vincent Coppini, 45, was identified after police reviewed surveillance footage taken from The Chama, which the suspect attempted to burglarize on May 12, and Xerxes for Gents, which was burglarized on May 30, according to a release from the Claremont Police Department.

In both cases, the same dark-colored Dodge Ram truck without plates was seen in the footage, in addition to the suspects as they entered the businesses.

A deputy from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department recognized Mr. Coppini, police said. Officers found that Mr. Coppini was already incarcerated in a San Diego County Jail for two San Bernardino County arrest warrants, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a stolen vehicle.

The stolen vehicle was the same Dodge Ram seen in the surveillance footage, police said.

The Claremont cases will be submitted to the LA District Attorney’s office for criminal filings, police said.
