Road to somewhere

There are so many fire roads in the hillsides around the Claremont Wilderness Park, some hikers and bikers will need a map just for simple excursions. Some created by man, others by Mother Nature, these trails are also critical for firefighting efforts throughout the year. With no rain in the foreseeable future, and high temperatures in the 90s, it’s hot even when compared to a normal summer season. Claremont has encountered a small fire or two, but they were quickly controlled limiting damage to just a few acres. Looking for a place to cool off? The city now has a shuttle service to cool locations at some Claremont parks. Check out our link. COURIER photo/Peter Weinberger
