Climbing the Potato in 30 seconds
We take you on a 30-second video trip up the popular Potato Mountain, a 3422 foot peak right in front of the San Gabriel Mountain range. The trail to the top has two access points, one from the Wilderness Park, the other from the Evey Canyon entrance off Mt. Baldy Road. The hike is strenuous, yet the payoff is fantastic with 360 degree views of the Southland. For decades, the Potato has also been a popular destination for teenagers to hang out. Be sure to bring plenty of water since the hike has little shade to get any relief from the summer heat. COURIER photo/Peter Weinberger
