Apple Valley duo arrested for north Claremont mail thefts

Police arrested two Apple Valley residents early Thursday morning after finding stolen mail during a traffic stop.

Officers pulled over a rented U-Haul van around 12:50 a.m. on Padua Avenue, north of Base Line Road. The driver, 33-year-old Dustin Hilton, was on probation for burglary and had a felony no-bail warrant out for his arrest. The passenger, 33-year-old Candace Gradoville, had prior arrests for burglary, police said.

Inside the car, police found numerous pieces of stolen mail from multiple cities, including from Fuller Drive and Cooke Avenue in Claremont. Police also found a notebook with an individual’s personal info, a broken community mailbox lock, shaved keys used to steal cars and access locks, meth and syringes.

Mr. Hilton and Ms. Gradoville were arrested and taken to CPD jail.

Claremont police are advising anyone who lives on Fuller Drive and Cooke Avenue to review surveillance cameras, if available, for the U-Haul van from midnight to 12:50 a.m. Thursday morning.

Anyone with information should call the police department at (909) 399-5411.
