Police arrest man for attempted burglary at Super King

Police arrested a man on suspicion of attempted burglary Sunday night after catching him at the back door of Super King Market.

An officer driving through the south alley behind the business on the 400 block of Auto Center Drive around 11:20 p.m. when they saw 34-year-old Joseph Beatty standing near the rear door of the market, police said in a release.

Mr. Beatty reportedly ran eastbound from the scene as soon as he saw the officer, but the officer caught up to him and Mr. Beatty was arrested without incident. Allegedly in his possession were burglary tools, an unknown controlled substance and narcotic paraphernalia.

Officers also located evidence of Mr. Beatty trying to break into the door of the market, but did not elaborate in the release. Mr. Beatty was arrested for possession of burglary tools, possession of a controlled substance, attempted burglary and possession of narcotics.

He is scheduled to appear at Pomona Superior Court on October 31.
