City events continue over the holiday season

Holiday promenade and tree lighting

Residents are invited to the Claremont Village on Friday, December 1 for an evening filled with live music, festive storefronts, a magnificent tree lighting ceremony and great shopping. The Claremont Holiday Promenade and Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place from 5 to 8 p.m.

 

Police department annual toy drive

The Claremont Police Department will partner with KGNH (Keeping Good in the Neighborhood) for a toy drive to benefit local children in need. Donations of new, unwrapped toys will be collected and distributed to children in Claremont and surrounding neighborhoods.

The toy drive will be held on Saturday, December 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m . at the Claremont Police Department, 570 W. Bonita Ave.

 

Community invited to Foothill Gold Line groundbreaking ceremony

 Elected officials, community members and the media will be on hand to help break ground on the 12.3-mile, $1.5 billion Foothill Gold Line light rail project at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 2.

The ceremony takes place at Citrus College, 100 W. Foothill Blvd., Glendora, in the school’s S2 parking lot at the corner of Citrus Ave. and Campus Dr.

Claremont residents who would like to attend the event can take Foothill Transit bus line 188 directly to and from the ceremony. Just depart the bus at the Foothill Boulevard/Citrus Avenue stop near Citrus College.

The project will see new light rail stations added to the Metro Gold Line system in Claremont, Glendora, San Dimas, La Verne, Pomona and Montclair. It is scheduled to be complete in 2026.

 Construction is being funded by Measure M and Measure R in Los Angeles County, along with San Bernardino County funds.
