Noted soprano to perform free concert at Little Bridges

Pomona College presents a free concert with soprano Christine Brandes and pianist Eric Moe, at 8 p.m. on Saturday, January 27 at Bridges Hall of Music, 150 E. Fourth St. Doors open 30 minutes prior to the concert.

Noted for her radiant, crystalline voice and superb musicianship, Ms. Brandes brings her committed artistry to repertoire ranging from the 17th century to new works. She enjoys an active career in North America and abroad, performing at many of the world’s most distinguished festivals and concert series in programs spanning from recitals and chamber music to oratorio and opera.

Joining her is composer and pianist Eric Moe, who has received numerous grants and awards for his work, including a Guggenheim Fellowship, commissions from the Fromm Foundation, the Koussevitzky Foundation and Meet-the-Composer USA. His playing can be heard on the Koch, CRI, Mode, Albany, New World Records and Innova labels. The New York Times has called his compositions “music of winning exuberance.”

The program will include Debussy’s 3 Chansons de Bilitis, Schoenberg’s Das Buch der hängenden Gärten, excerpts from Schubert’s Schwanengesang, as well as selections from Barbara White and the performing pianist, Mr. Moe.
