Burglar breaks into Hayato Sushi, Baskin-Robbins

Claremont police are looking for whoever broke into two businesses early Sunday.

Officers responded to a burglary alarm at Hayato Sushi at 950 west Foothill Boulevard around 1:17 a.m. and discovered the front glass door was shattered, according to a release from the Claremont Police Department.

The suspect made entry but there was no loss of property, police said.

This is the third time Hayato Sushi has been burglarized within a year, according to previous COURIER reports. The restaurant was broken into in November 2017 and July 2017.

While officers were at Hayato, another burglary alarm activated at Baskin-Robbins at 602 east Baseline Road. The front door glass was also shattered and the suspect got away with a “large amount of cash,” according to police.

A third burglary occurred along Baseline Road in Upland that may be linked to the previous two break-ins, police said.

Surveillance footage from the scene showed the suspect, whom police describes as an African-American man in his 30s with a moustache and wearing two dark-colored hooded sweatshirts.

Anyone with information should call the Claremont Police Department at (909) 399-5411.
