Claremont’s long and winding road

Thousands of people each year will make their way up and around the 5-mile loop trail and the Claremont Hills Wilderness Park. The road however, is not only steep, there’s no direct route around the park. The loop trail will connect you to other hikes leading to areas along the base of the San Gabriel Mountains, the most popular destination being Potato Mountain. The hiking weather will be near perfect, with high temperatures hovering around 80 degrees, with lows in the mid-50s for the remainder of the week. Even the long range forecast has these temperatures remaining steady for the next 2-3 weeks. And of course, no rain, even in mountain areas. COURIER photo/Peter Weinberger
