Future Eagle Scout to host health fair at El Roble

A Claremont Boy Scout will be running a community health fair this coming Saturday, February 3 for his Eagle Scout project.

The fair, which runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at El Roble Intermediate School, is the brainchild of 13-year-old Shahin Amani. Shahin’s mother, Roya Amani, said the idea came to be through her son’s desire to help people.

“His goal is to be a doctor when he grows up, and by doing a health fair he’s helping people,” Ms. Amani said.

Shahin is working with Inland Valley Hope Partners to offer free health screenings for people who attend. Shahin’s goal, Ms. Amani said, is to provide as many people with health care as possible.

A number of Claremont institutions are participating in the event, including Hendrick’s Pharmacy, Keck Graduate Institute, Claremont Pharmacy, Claremont Orthodontics, Dr. Peter Igler, Wong Orthodontics, Summit Fitness and 986 Pharmacy.

Ms. Amani also said that the Claremont DoubleTree Hotel donated 500 cookies for the event, and Yogurtland will be handing out coupons for those in attendance.
