New library streaming service gives access to 30,000 films

Claremont Public Library cardholders now have free on-demand access to more than 30,000 films through the streaming service, Kanopy. The service was rolled out this week to the entire Los Angeles County Library system, which serves 3.3 million people over 93 branches. The library can be accessed by all LA County Library cardholders at lacounty.kanopy.com.

In partnership with more than 4,000 libraries around the world, Kanopy can be accessed from anywhere on most devices and platforms, including Roku, Chromecast, AppleTV, iOS and Android, on phones, tablets or computers.

Among the offerings are feature films and documentaries from award-winning filmmakers, film-festival picks, independent and classic film, world cinema, critical favorites, rare and hard to find titles, and curated work from The Great Courses, Kino Lorber, Music Box Films, Samuel Goldwyn, The Orchard, PBS, the Criterion Collection and thousands of independent filmmakers. Local film fans can check out the Los Angeles Collection, which includes LA-related films such as Migrant Kitchen, Starlet, Los Punks: We Are All We Have and Pencils Down.
