LA County Fair already gearing up for 2018 season

The LA County Fair has just unveiled its theme for 2018: “Get Your Kicks…at the LA County Fair.”

According to a release sent out on Thursday, the fair will be taking visitors, “on a nostalgic road trip of iconic highway attractions, neon signs and all the kitsch that makes up the vanishing American roadside.”

The fair is going all-in on the Route 66 theme this year, offering an exclusive ticket package, including four season passes, parking, lanyards and a special gift box for $66.

In addition, a $6.60 meal menu will also be offered for guests who come to the fair. Each fair exhibit will feature a Route 66 theme.

“Our Route 66 theme speaks to the heartfelt love of America we all share and reflects the return to our roots that our guests are seeking,” Miguel A. Santana, President and CEO of Fairplex, said in the release. “This year’s fair will deliver on those promises, offering all the pieces for a fun family outing or date night at a terrific value.”

Guests will also take a walking trip from Chicago to Santa Monica with the Get Your Kicks on Route 66 attraction. According to the release, this new attraction will replicate the over 2,400 mile original route of the iconic interstate highway through Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona, and attractions such as the Wigwam Motel, the Cadillac Ranch and the Santa Monica Pier.

La Verne’s historic Mt. Baldy Drive-In will also be represented, and patrons will be able to catch a drive-in movie while munching on popcorn and vintage snacks.

“The LA County Fair is turning back the clock to a time when America’s roads brought people together from across our nation, unifying us as we explored the delightful surprises nestled in communities across this land,” Mr. Santana said in the release.

The fair will also feature a carnival operated by Ray Cammack Shows, the End of Summer concert series, farm animals, food, shopping and much more. All attractions, except for the carnival and the summer concert series, are included in the price of admission.

Admission will stay the same for 2018—$14 weekday admission for adults ages 13 and over, $8 for children aged 6-12 and $10 for seniors. Weekend admission will be $20 for adults, $12 for children and $15 for seniors. Children aged five and younger are always free.

Special alue days include School Supply Wednesdays and Food Drive Thursdays—patrons can get in free from noon to 5 p.m. if they bring in five new school supplies or five cans of food. All donations will be given to local charities.
