Two burglars arrested after returning to crime scene

Two burglars were arrested after they apparently returned to the scene of the crime.

On Saturday at around 7:45 p.m., the two alleged burglars, 24-year-old Pedro Rodriguez of Ontario and 23-year-old Alexis Perera, used a rock to smash a rear sliding glass door of a home on the 900 block of Brigham Young Drive, the Claremont Police Department said in a press release. They reportedly stole jewelry and purses before fleeing the scene in a gray Mazda 6.

Later in the evening, the burglars apparently went back to the scene, where a relative spotted them, police said. The burglars tried to get away, but were followed by the relative, who called police.

Mr. Rodriguez and Mr. Perera were located and detained in the area of Ninth Street and College Avenue, and were positively identified as the two burglars who allegedly broke into the home, police said.

Mr. Perera is being held at the Claremont Police Department jail on a no-bail parole hold and Mr. Rodriguez is being held at the Inmate Reception Center on $50,000 bail.

They both will be making appearances at Pomona Superior Court on May 22.
