Gus’s Barbecue opens at the Packing House

After months of anticipation, Gus’s Barbecue is finally open in Claremont.

This is just the second location of the storied South Pasadena barbeque joint since it was first founded in 1946. The restaurant opened in the corner space at the Packing House, which was formerly occupied by Casablanca.

The space features a wraparound outdoor patio with a fire pit just in time to take in the Claremont summer nights. Gus’s will also have a large dining area, complete with a bar that opens out to the outdoor patio, complete with counter seating, according to a press release from owner Bicos Hospitality.

“We’re so thrilled and excited to finally realize our dream of opening a second location,” Owners Chris and John Bicos said in the release. “This has been in the works for years, and finding the right team, the right space and the right city all lined up beautifully. We can’t wait to get even more acquainted with our new neighbors, and to give them one of our favorite things in the world: good barbeque.”

Gus’s is located a 500 W. First St. Hours are 11 a.m. to midnight, Saturday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Fridays. Give them a ring at (909) 445-0931.
