Wilderness Park closed this weekend amid triple-digit temps

If you were thinking about hiking the trails in the heat this weekend, you’ll have to change your plans. The Claremont Hills Wilderness Park will be closed on Friday and Saturday due to excessive heat.

The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for all of Los Angeles County, the city said in a release. The Wilderness Park will be closed on Friday, July 6 and Saturday, July 7 and will reopen in Sunday, July 8.

Claremont is expected to bake in the excessive heat wave that will hit all of Southern California. Friday’s temperatures are expected to hit 112 degrees on Friday and 105 degrees on Saturday.

The NWS may extend the closures if the excessive heat continues, so plan accordingly. Updates will be posted on the city’s website at www.ci.claremont.ca.us or at the National Weather Service website at www.weather.gov.

Stay cool, Claremont!
