Contractors will begin removing turf in the passive areas of Griffith Park next week. Approximately 36,750 square feet of turf will be removed along Woodbend and Morningside Drives, near Sumner Elementary School.

Drip irrigation and climate appropriate shrubs and mulch will also be installed. The turf removal project is part of the water conservation plan the city council approved in March 2018, which allows for phased removal of grass at various parks in the city.
