Sam Mowbray is a loss of a real Claremont hero

Longtime Claremonter Sam Mowbray died Thursday, July 19 at San Antonio Regional Hospital after suffering a heart attack. He was 74 years old.

Mr. Mowbray was a founding member of the ED Net, now known as the Claremont Educational Foundation, served for four terms on the CUSD board of education and was a member of the Claremont After School Program (CLASP). He was also an active member of the Rotary Club of Claremont.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 18 at 10 a.m. in the Claremont High School gymnasium, 1601 N. Indian Hill Blvd. A full account of Mr. Mowbray’s life will appear in an upcoming edition of the COURIER.
