Explore town-gown relations at council candidates’ forum
Residents are invited to explore the future of town-gown relations at a Claremont City Council candidates’ forum from 8 to 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 16 in Edmunds Ballroom at Pomona College, 170 E. Sixth St., Claremont.
“Claremont and the Colleges have a long and enduring relationship, one that has been beneficial to all,” the Colleges related. “Over the decades, town-gown relations have also had occasional up and downs. As we think about the next era for Claremont and the Claremont Colleges, what will be the roles and responsibilities of city leaders, community members and the Colleges? What priorities do the Colleges and city leadership share? Where do their priorities differ and how might college and city leaders navigate those differences? What are the shared values that have made Claremont one of the most desirable cities to live and work in, and the Colleges some of the top institutions of higher education in the world?”
The forum will explore these questions and many more in a question and answer format moderated by Kathryn Dunn, editor of the Claremont COURIER.
Sponsored by The Claremont Colleges, this event is free and open to the public. Coffee and light breakfast provided. All candidates running for Claremont City Council have been invited.
