City of Claremont holiday promenade and tree lighting

The city of Claremont will host its holiday promenade and tree lighting ceremony this Friday, November 16 from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Village. Downtown businesses will participate as holiday “cheer stops” by providing holiday treats.

Admission is free and the evening is co-sponsored by the city of Claremont, Claremont Village Marketing Group and the DoubleTree by Hilton Claremont with support from Claremont Lincoln University.

At the Claremont Depot on First Street, attendees can enjoy carol singers from 5 to 5:30 p.m., the Swing Cats Big Band from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., with the tree lighting ceremony beginning a 6 p.m.

Visit city hall on Harvard Avenue and Second Street from 5 to 8 p.m. for a visit with Santa Claus. The Moultrie Academy singers will perfrom from 5 to 8 p.m. on the council chamber patio. At Shelton Park at Harvard and Bonita Avenues, see the Claremont High School marching Band from 5 to 6 p.m.

The Packing House in Village West on First Street and Oberlin Avenue will offer music, arts, craft vendors and other entertainment from 5 to 9 p.m. From 7 to 7:15 p.m., enjoy Irish Dancers outside the Packing House while Cynthia Artish, harpist, performs inside from 5 to 8 p.m.

The Laemmle plaza will offer live performances by the Claremont School of Music from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
